4 years agoColorado Rockies outfielder Charlie Blackmon is a four-time All-Star who has a batting title to his credit, but he is on pace to potentially make history in 2020. Following another multi-hit contest Sunday, Blackmon is hitting a Major League-best .458 this year and is also tied for the NL led with 18 RBI. No hitter has hit above .400 in a season since Ted Williams did so for the Red Sox in 1941, and while many hitters have gotten off to hot starts in a small sample size, Blackmon has the advantage of half of his games coming at Coors Field, a noted hitter’s haven. Blackmon’s wOBA of .477 ranks him in the top-two percent of the league; to call him an elite season-long asset would be a major understatement. He returns home Monday to open a six-game homestand, which may only proliferate his torrid hitting.--Jesse Borek
