4 years agoBoston Red Sox outfielder Andrew Benintendi will be placed on the 10-day injured list after sustaining a strained right rib cage during Tuesday’s contest versus the Rays. The move comes amidst a treacherous start to the 2020 season for the outfielder who is batting just .103 (4-for-39) through his first 14 games with a stunningly low .128 slugging percentage. While many owners have anticipated a breakout from Benintendi, he has trended in the wrong direction this season with his IL stint the impetus that some owners may have needed to let him hit the waiver wire. Kevin Pillar now figures to see everyday duties with the Boston outfield less crowded for at least the next week and a half.--Jesse Borek
