Pete Alonso Breaks Out In Mets Win
4 years agoNew York Mets first baseman Pete Alonso went 3-for-4 with a home run, two doubles, three RBI, one walk, and three runs scored in the Mets 11-6 win over the Nationals on Wednesday. It was a much-needed performance for Alonso who had been struggling to the point where he was given the day off on Tuesday. Alonso is now batting .229 with three home runs and 10 RBI in 70 at-bats on the season. Hopefully, Wednesday's performance is a sign that Alonso is about to go on a tear and break free from his early season slump. In 2019, Alonso posted a line of .260-53-120-103-1. Despite his slow start to the season, Alonso is one of the top first basemen in all of the majors and is a lock to deliver elite HR and RBI numbers in the Mets lineup. Wednesday's performance is an example of why owners in all formats should keep Alonso active.
