Phillies Calling Up Top-Prospect Alec Bohm
4 years agoPhiladelphia Phillies third baseman Alec Bohm has been called up to the Big League club, according to The Athletic's Meghan Montemurro. Bohm was the top-hitting prospect in the Phillies farm system, but hasn't played above Double-A. Last season, in Double-A, Bohm swatted 14 homers with 42 RBI in 68 games with a strong .269/.344/.500 slash line. He boasts elite plate-discipline for a young hitter as he has just a 18.8 percent career strikeout rate in the minors while his walk rate improved significantly in the 2018 season. It is unclear how much playing time Bohm will receive, but the Phillies will surely want his bat in the lineup if he is no longer training at the alternate site. Bohm is an interesting add in deeper leagues, but 12-team league owners should wait and see how he fares against Major League pitching before making a play for the 24-year-old.
