BALLER MOVE: Target Around ~85 Overall
CURRENT ADP: ~100
ANALYSIS: Samuel's injury feels too old these days as it took place all the way back in late June, but things surrounding Samuel got a little more clear during the past few weeks/days. In fact, it was on July 28 that the 49ers finally put Samuel on the Non-Football Injury list. GM John Lynch said that Samuel is in fact going to miss regular-season games once the 2020 season kicks off this September, with reports talking about a potential three-to-four week absence for the receiver.
If those reports and expectations are true, and Samuel ends missing four weeks, he would be entering the realm of the 2020-flier group of players. On the other hand, though, precisely that fact can make him drop down your league's draft board and allow you to snatch a potential league-winning player for cheap. On a 16-game projection for next season, PFF has Samuel reaching 181 PPR points.
There is a chance Samuel goes undrafted and remains on the board -- that'd be waivers -- when all is said and done in your league. If that is the case, I'd advise getting him for free and stashing him on your roster if you feel comfortable waiting for his comeback and have room to spare. If that is not the case, wait a bit on his current ADP and draft him a little later, as most fantasy GMs will pass on him because of the injury concerns but he'll still be a valuable player once he's back on the field.
