4 years agoThe Cincinnati Reds have designated infielder Christian Colon for assignment, using his roster spot to bring up right-handed pitcher Tyler Thornburg to join a rocky bullpen. Colon’s path to playing time was about to be severely hampered when Mike Moustakas (quad), who is set to be activated off the injured list Sunday, returns. The Reds’ bullpen needs as many healthy and effective arms as it can get, as it boasts a 6.45 ERA entering play Friday, the fourth-lowest mark in the Majors. Neither Colon nor Thornburg has much season-long intrigue at this stage.--Jesse Borek
