4 years agoPhiladelphia Phillies right-handed pitcher Spencer Howard was making just the second start of his Major League career Friday against the Mets before he was forced to exit early with an ailment mirroring a blister or finger injury. Howard, the club’s No. 2 prospect, has now compiled an 8.22 ERA and 1.96 WHIP over his first two starts, far below the expectations that Philadelphia and fantasy owners had when he was called up. Depending on the specifics of his injury, Howard’s status for his next projected start Thursday against Toronto remains very much up in the air.
