Andres Gimenez Continues To Impress
4 years agoNew York Mets infielder Andres Gimenez went 1-for-4 with a stolen base in the Mets' 6-5 loss to the Phillies on Friday. Gimenez now leads the Major Leagues in stolen bases with six (on six attempts). He is now batting .283/.321/.377 in 53 at-bats. The rookie has been both an offensive and defensive spark plug for the Mets in 2020. Even with Robinson Cano (hip) returning from the injured list, Gimenez should continue to get regular playing time whether it is at second base, shortstop, or third base. The Mets cannot afford to sit Gimenez given his impact on both sides of the diamond. This makes Gimenez a solid waiver wire target in mixed leagues in this shortened season. While he lacks in the power department, his position eligibility (second base, third base, and shortstop in some formats) and contributions in the average, runs and steals categories make him fantasy relevant in all formats.
