4 years agoNew York Yankees second baseman DJ LeMahieu exited Saturday’s contest against the Red Sox after being checked on by the club’s training staff. Tyler Wade took his place at the keystone and would figure to see the vast majority of time there should LeMahieu’s absence be an extended one. Entering play Saturday, LeMahieu was leading the American League in hits (30), batting average (.429), and on-base percentage (.474), a coup for season-long owners who bet on his 2019 production not being a one-off. His absence from the lineup alongside that of Aaron Judge (calf) and Giancarlo Stanton (hamstring) puts the Yankees without its top three hitters for the time being. LeMahieu’s next chance at rejoining the lineup comes Sunday against Red Sox right-hander Chris Mazza.--Jesse Borek
