Yankees Call Up Miguel Andujar
4 years agoNew York Yankees third baseman and outfielder Miguel Andujar was called up from the team’s alternate site with second baseman DJ LeMahieu (thumb) landing on the IL. With Clint Frazier raking and Mike Tauchman playing well, Andujar figures to compete primarily with Mike Ford for playing time at DH. Ford has been struggling with his .513 OPS over his first 10 games, and manager Aaron Boone likely wants to get Andujar’s bat into the lineup. Andujar collected just one hit over five MLB games this season, but the 25-year-old posted a .855 OPS in his last full MLB season and is worth a waiver pickup if he can find his way into consistent long-term playing time. Andujar’s playing time likely hinges on the injuries to outfielders Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton as well as his own performance, so his playing time is only guaranteed for the next couple of weeks for now.
