4 years agoKansas City Royals catcher Salvador Perez was a late dismissal from Sunday’s starting nine against Minnesota due to blurry vision in his left eye. Meibrys Viloria takes his place behind the dish and will bat ninth. Perez has gotten off to a terrific start at the plate in 2020, having delivered a .523 slugging percentage while ranking inside the top three percentile in the Majors in xBA (.359), xSLG (.654), xwOBA (.430), and xwOBAcon (.516). The ailment could be of concern, although Perez’s status Monday for the series finale against the Twins should provide a better outlook of whether he will need a stint on the injured list or not. He remains an elite season-long asset in leagues where catchers are required.--Jesse Borek
