4 years agoKansas City Royals outfielder/designated hitter Jorge Soler has always presented a boom or bust fantasy option. But over his past seven games, Soler has struck out in 15 of his 27 at-bats; yet he has still slugged two homers with six hits, four runs scored and four RBI. Making contact is imperative for Soler due to how elite he is when he does -- his 22.4% barrel rate is the second-highest in the Majors. As his K% continues to climb, so does his average exit velocity (91.8 MPH), which is on pace for a new career high. In season-long formats where strikeouts are not counted against owners, Soler’s stock keeps trending upward; but where K’s are a factor, owners will have to consider that he is whiffing at a prodigious rate heading into a series against a Reds starting staff that has the second-most strikeouts (136) in the Majors.--Jesse Borek
