4 years agoSeattle Mariners first baseman/designated hitter Daniel Vogelbach was taken off of the active roster ahead of Wednesday’s game against the Dodgers, having been designated for assignment. It has been a rapid downturn for Vogelbach since being named an All-Star last season. In 18 games this year, the slugging left-handed hitter has produced an .094/.250/.226 slash line; the move allows manager Scott Servais to cede playing time to younger batters that may be in future plans. Still a source of significant power potential, Vogelbach could be an intriguing speculative add depending on which team claims him off waivers, if he is selected.--Jesse Borek
