BALLER MOVE: Target Around ~168 Overall
CURRENT ADP: 180+ (Undrafted)
ANALYSIS: If you caught all our XFL coverage during the shortened 2020 season (R.I.P. again), then you know that Phillip Walker would have been the clear choice for MVP. He threw multiple touchdowns in every game and paced the league in passing from the jump. Walker signed on with the Carolina Panthers to backup Teddy Bridgewater. The fact they traded away Kyle Allen to Washington shows that Walker has a legitimate shot to beat out Will Grier and be the primary fill-in.
Bridgewater was brought in to be the short-term answer as Cam Newton's replacement, but we know Bridgewater has his share of question marks. Between injury history, lack of arm strength, and relative lack of mobility outside the pocket, Bridgewater has a limited ceiling. That might be fine for a team on the rebuild like Carolina, but it could also lead to rough times for him.
Whether you are a believer or not, the fact remains that Walker has a path to playing time in 2020 if Bridgewater doesn't work out. There hasn't been any talk about any ongoing battle for the starting QB position over Carolina, and while that probably makes sense as Bridgewater doesn't come with glaring concerns attached to his name to kick the season off, there will always be the chance that he flops in his new surroundings. It should also be noted that new head coach Matt Rhule was Walker's head coach in college and recruited him to attend Temple. In Superflex or two-QB leagues, Walker makes for a smart stash that could pay off.
