BALLER MOVE: Target Around ~168 Overall
CURRENT ADP: 180+ (Undrafted)
ANALYSIS: Moreau was simply the other TE on the Raiders in 2019, and the one who watched Darren Waller emerge as a top-five fantasy option the closest. Waller dominated the snaps, staying on the field 90% of the time, compared to 36% for Moreau. In his rookie year, Moreau saw a total of 25 targets. Now, the Raiders spent three draft picks on receivers to bring more competition to the fold. Things don't seem promising for Moreau in any sense. But that's what makes him a sleeper, and it is not that rookie-TEs have their best NFL seasons as freshmen.
Moreau wasn't overly involved in the passing game, but he was extremely efficient when called upon. He caught 84% of passes thrown his way and cashed in for a score five times on his 21 receptions. His year-end receiving grade from PFF was sixth-best among all tight ends, behind teammate Waller. He graded out better as a receiver than Austin Hooper and Zach Ertz. Physically, he has all the tools needed to be a dominant pass-catcher in addition to the excellent blocking he already provides.
It could be said he is an injury away from being fantasy-relevant, but he may not need that. Jon Gruden has said that it wouldn't be surprising to watch the Raiders run three tight ends at the same time in play-action. Keep in mind that Las Vegas has also signed Jason Witten this offseason. Witten will most probably retire after this year, and he's entering his age-38 (!) season. Do you know how many tight ends have played at that age in the NFL since 2000? All of two (Ben Watson and Antonio Gates), and none of them topped 46 targets. Sure, Moreau has a steep climb to complete in order to get to a prominent position and role, but if he gets lucky with injuries or just plain bad performances from others he might find a way there. And if there is a volatile, unpredictable position in fantasy football that is the one of tight ends.
