4 years agoSan Francisco Giants catcher Joey Bart will hit sixth during his Major League debut Thursday against the Los Angeles Angels and left-handed pitcher Jose Suarez. To clear room on the active roster, catcher Tyler Heineman was optioned to the club’s alternate training site -- which along with the comments of President of baseball operations, Farhan Zaidi, all but confirms that Bart will see the vast majority of playing time behind the dish moving forward, making him a viable season-long commodity in all formats. Bart, the Giants’ top prospect, is ranked No. 15 overall in the Majors per MLB Pipeline. He demolished the ball in a short stint during the Arizona Fall League, producing a 1.290 OPS across 10 games.--Jesse Borek
