Anthony Alford Designated For Assignment
4 years agoToronto Blue Jays outfielder Anthony Alford has been designated for assignment after having been a top prospect within the organization for years, topping out at No. 25 overall in 2016 per Baseball America. Across four seasons, Alford has received only 75 plate appearances in the Majors, having slashed .155/.200/.254 in that span. He stole 22 bases and delivered a .754 OPS at Triple-A last season and now is up for grabs at just 26 years old. While his keepers league potential has cooled over the years, he may benefit from a new situation and be a name to keep an ear out for down the line.
