Austin Meadows Buying Into Launch Angle Revolution
4 years agoTampa Bay Rays outfielder Austin Meadows burst onto the scene in 2019 becoming an All-Star in his first full season. While his start to 2020 has been stunted, he is off to a similar start with a .509 SLG through his first 15 games. Having socked 33 homers last year, Meadows is attempting to ramp that number up this year and taken his launch angle up even higher to 24.7, which more than doubles the league average. With 38.9% of his balls in play being of the fly ball variety, it’s safe to assume that Meadows should become a benefactor of the launch angle revolution sooner rather than later. He next faces a Blue Jays starting staff this weekend that yielded 19 home runs through their first 96 innings this season.
