Charlie Blackmon Mashing Fastballs En Route To Elite Year
4 years agoColorado Rockies outfielder Charlie Blackmon enters play Saturday leading the Majors in hits (43) and batting average (.417), presenting himself with an opportunity to hit .400 in the shortened 2020 year. His Statcast metrics back up the elite nature of his production, as his .345 xBA and .437 wOBA rank among the top three percentile of all batters. The biggest reason for his gaudy output has been his success against the fastball, which he has battered to the tune of a .453 BA and .656 SLG this season. Looking ahead, he will have nine consecutive games at hitter’s friendly parks beginning Monday when he travels to Arizona. Even as he has thrived at Coors Field, Blackmon has excelled on the road as well to the tune of a .386/.438/.545 slash line, making him an elite season-long or DFS asset in any format.
