Chris Paddack Walloped By Mariners
4 years agoSan Diego Padres starter Chris Paddack suffered through five-plus innings Tuesday against the Seattle Mariners, allowing six earned runs in a loss. The 24-year-old was victimized by eight hits and a walk, including two homers in another rough night. He fanned seven. With his fastball effectiveness way down, Paddack continues to be hit hard and stares at a ghastly 5.15 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 22 percent strikeout rate through seven starts. Drafted as an SP2 and expected to make a leap from an excellent rookie season, Paddack has faded meaningfully. His opportunity for redemption comes in the challenging confines of Coors Field Sunday against the Colorado Rockies.
