Gerrit Cole Picks Up First Loss In 28 Starts On Wednesday
4 years agoNew York Yankees starting pitcher Gerrit Cole had a rare poor outing on Wednesday, allowing five runs over five innings of work. Cole allowed more than four runs in a start only twice last season (33 total starts), and his loss was the first since May of last season. Even a bad start from Cole isn’t that bad, though, as the 29-year-old still managed to pick up nine strikeouts while generating 22 whiffs over 103 pitches for an impressive 21% swinging-strike rate. Cole should bounce back in his next scheduled start against the Rays, and fantasy players should remain confident in the superstar pitcher.
