Darren Waller Remains Top-Tier TE Option Despite Competition
4 years agoUpon the signing of veteran tight end Jason Witten, the initial concern was that Las Vegas Raiders tight end Darren Waller would face a timeshare. But that has proven not to be the case throughout camp, with Waller taking command of the TE1 spot and retaining his top-five tight end appeal. After erupting with a 1,145-yard campaign in 2019, there’s little reason for the Raiders to not continue targeting their most efficient offensive weapon after averaging 71.6 receiving yards per contest. While the numbers and targets are eye-popping, there’s considerable risk attached to selecting Waller inside of the top 60, as he compiled just three touchdowns and had seven games below the 55-yard threshold. Irrespective of that, he will have ample DFS appeal in Week 1 for those owners willing to pony up at TE as the Panthers run out a new-look defense in 2020.
