4 years agoBoston Red Sox third baseman Rafael Devers has not gotten off to the same level of success in 2020 as he had during his breakout 2019 campaign. When parsing Statcast metrics, it’s easy to see why -- after mauling fastballs last season to the tune of a .306 BA and .544 SLG, those numbers have dipped to .180 and .344, respectively. The 48.4% Hard Hit % that he produced last year had put him in the top seven percentile of all batters, but through his first 30 games this year, he has dipped to just above league average at 36.1%. Additionally, his K% has spiked up to 29.5%, which has given him additional volatility in some season-long formats. The Red Sox aren’t likely to curb his playing time anytime soon, so he’ll have the opportunity over the next few contests to feast on some average right-handed pitching (Anibal Sanchez, Austin Voth) with considerable DFS upside.--Jesse Borek
