4 years agoNew York Yankees starting pitcher J.A. Happ held the Mets to three hits and no walks over 7.1 shutout innings on Saturday. Although Happ’s five strikeouts (14% swinging-strike rate) were on the low end, he allowed only four hard-hit balls (18 batted ball events), and 10 of the 18 batted balls he allowed came with launch angles below zero degrees. Happ had been struggling so far this season with a 6.39 ERA coming into Saturday’s start, and Saturday’s performance was a much-needed step in the right direction. Fantasy players should expect Happ to continue getting back on track over the rest of the season, though he’s still unlikely to post an ERA far below 4.00.--Sam Chinitz
