Mitch Moreland Traded To Padres
4 years agoThe San Diego Padres acquired first baseman Mitch Moreland from the Boston Red Sox for two prospects, third baseman Hudson Potts and outfielder Jeisson Rosario. The move bolsters the Friars offensive prowess as Moreland slides into the strong side of a DH platoon with infielder Ty France. The 34-year-old was crushing to a .328/.430/.746 slash with eight homers and 43 runs-plus-RBI in 79 plate appearances. Atop the leaderboards in batted-ball metrics, the shift to Petco Park may impair Moreland’s fantasy value but he should remain a cheap power source. In exchange, Potts (Padres No. 10 prospect) and Rosario (No. 19) represent developmental upside for the rebuilding Sox.
