Eric Hosmer Kicks Off Padres Offensive Frenzy
4 years agoSan Diego Padres first baseman Eric Hosmer went 2-for-5 with a three-run homer Sunday against the Colorado Rockies. Hosmer demolished a first-inning meatball from starter Ryan Castellani 423 feet to kick off the Friars 13-run barrage. After two down seasons in San Diego, Hosmer has grooved to a fantastic .290/.340/.570 slash with seven homers, two steals and 52 runs-plus-RBI in 100 plate appearances. Making tangible improvements in launch angle and dropping his strikeouts to 15 percent, Hosmer has become a force in one of baseball’s most potent offenses. He’s back in the mix as a fantasy option at first base.
