Chris Thompson Could See Larger Role After Fournette Release
4 years agoJacksonville Jaguars running back Chris Thompson could be in line for an expanded role after the team surprisingly released starting running back Leonard Fournette on Monday morning. Thompson was reportedly already seeing plenty of work in the team's offense during training camp, including in the red zone. He probably won't see many more carries as a strict pass-catching RB but his role in the red zone could be robust in 2020. Thompson is currently the most-proven running back on the team as they have Ryquell Armstead, Devine Ogizbo, and James Robinson currently behind him on the depth chart. Those three backs have a combined 44 career carries among them. Expect Thompson's 14th-round ADP to rise in the coming days.
