4 years agoNew York Yankees catcher Gary Sanchez went hitless in the first game of Sunday’s doubleheader but hit a 453 ft extra-inning grand slam in a pinch-hit appearance during the Sunday’s second game. More than half of Sanchez’s 11 hits this season have now come on long balls, as he’s paired his 6.3% home run rate with a .128 BABIP and a 39% strikeout rate. That being said, Sanchez’s strikeout rate should fall back towards last season’s 28% mark based on his 13.9% swinging-strike rate and 44.1% swing rate. It’s a small streak, but Sanchez has now struck out only three times in his last 13 plate appearances and may finally be trending in the right direction. Combined with the fact that his high strikeout rate is unsupported by his swinging-strike rate and that his BABIP is unsustainably low, Sanchez is an attractive buy-low option in fantasy leagues.--Sam Chinitz
