Cincinnati Acquires Brian Goodwin From Angels
4 years agoThe Cincinnati Reds added another outfield bat during Monday’s Trade Deadline, landing outfielder Brian Goodwin from the Los Angeles Angels. So long as Nick Senzel remains out of the mix, Goodwin is likely to see everyday playing time against right-handed pitching, making him a high-upside short-term season-long addition. Having amassed a 114 OPS+ through his first 30 games (on pace to be a new career high), Goodwin should benefit from playing at Great American Ball Park both this year and beyond. The Angels nabbed Cincinnati’s No. 14 ranked prospect, left-handed pitcher Packy Naughton, in return. He will report to the club’s alternate site with no timeline to his big league callup, but at 24 years old, Los Angeles could give him a look during September.
