4 years agoOakland Athletics shortstop Marcus Semien isn’t expected to land on the injured list due to the oblique injury that he is working through, but he also isn’t expected back in the starting nine Friday against San Diego. Chad Pinder, who was recently activated off of the paternity list, and Vimael Machin will hold down shortstop duties while Semien remains sidelined. After a breakout 2019 campaign, Semien has reverted to the mean in 2020, producing a .663 OPS through his first 33 games. Combining the lingering nature of oblique injuries with the fact that many of his metrics are on pace to be the lowest of his career since ‘13, fantasy managers can begin looking elsewhere for shortstop production during September.--Jesse Borek
