Mike Clevinger To Make Padres Debut On Thursday
4 years agoSan Diego Padres starting pitcher Mike Clevinger will make his team debut against the Angels on Thursday. Clevinger has made only four starts so far this season, but he should pitch every fifth game for the Padres over the rest of the season and will look to continue building off of last season’s impressive campaign that saw him post a 2.71 ERA with a 26.5% K-BB. The Angels represent a reasonably poor matchup for Clevinger given their .294 xwOBA against sliders that ranks eighth-best in the MLB, but Clevinger allowed more than three runs in only four of his 21 starts last season and should manage to keep the Angels largely in-check on Thursday.
