4 years agoNew York Mets' first baseman Pete Alonso, mired in a 3-for-32 (.094) slump heading into action, hit a solo homer in the Mets' 9-4 win over the Orioles on Wednesday. Alonso went 1-for-4, including the home run, with a walk and two runs scored. Alonso has posted overall exit velocity, barrel rate, and launch angle figures which are significantly lower than those posted in his rookie 2019 campaign. As a result, Alonso has had a very inconsistent 2020 with modest home run, slugging and RBI output. Hopefully, Wednesday's performance can jump-start Alonso and get him on the right track as we head down the stretch to the abbreviated 2020 campaign. Redraft managers should remain patient with Alonso, though it wouldn't be out of the question to sit him until he shows more productive consistency at the plate.--Nick Ritrivi - RotoBaller
