4 years agoSan Diego Padres catcher Luis Campusano is among the starting nine for Friday’s contest against Oakland, which will mark his big league debut. Ranked as the Padres’ No. 4 prospect per MLB Pipeline, Campusano had never played a game above Class A Advanced before Friday, but he did slash .325/.396/.509 with 47 extra-base hits as a 20-year-old. San Diego’s catching situation has become crowded amidst the Trade Deadline acquisitions of Jason Castro and Austin Nola, which likely caps Campusano’s ceiling over the final month. Primarily a keepers league and DFS commodity over the next few weeks, the right-handed bat faces southpaw Jesus Luzardo in his debut Friday.--Jesse Borek
