4 years agoSan Diego Padres outfielder Tommy Pham has been doing pre-game drills to keep himself in shape for a potential September return. When asked about the possibility of getting Pham back this month, manager Jayce Tingler said that he was “definitely optimistic.” Pham has been sidelined since Aug. 16 due to a broken left hamate bone, but had scuffled at the dish up to that point, compiling just three extra-base hits in his first 23 games. The nature of the Padres’ outfield may mean that even if Pham makes his way back, his path to everyday at-bats could be muddled. Check back for updates on when Pham gets closer to returning to game action.--Jesse Borek
