Anthony Santander Heads Toward IL Stint, 2020 Return In Doubt
4 years agoBaltimore Orioles outfielder Anthony Santander will land on the 10-day injured list due to an oblique strain, one which may end his 2020 year, manager Brandon Hyde said Saturday. Santander has had a breakout season, with his .575 SLG and .314 ISO ranking him eighth and seventh, respectively, in the American League. DJ Stewart is the likeliest candidate to take over full-time playing duties, a move that severely weakens the Orioles’ lineup, an important note for fantasy managers who will have pitchers throwing against Baltimore. While Santander could return, with just over three weeks remaining in the year, how much he could contribute likely doesn’t outweigh what is sure to be a lengthy absence.
