4 years agoMinnesota Twins catcher Alex Avila was placed on the injured list prior to Saturday's contest versus Detroit due to tightness in his lower back. Avila was both scratched from the lineup and then removed from a contest early in back-to-back days earlier in the week. Willians Astudillo was recalled from the club's alternate site and will serve as the second catcher with Ryan Jeffers to take over an even larger share of catching duties with Mitch Garver (intercostal) also sidelined. Avila has been a solid source of on-base percentage (.352) this year, but is purely a low-priced DFS asset at this stage.--Jesse Borek
