4 years agoNew York Yankees starting pitcher Gerrit Cole allowed five runs (one earned) over six innings with 10 strikeouts and two walks against the Orioles on Saturday. With one home run allowed on Saturday, Cole has now allowed 13 home runs over only nine starts so far this season, with his fastball and curveball being the biggest culprits. To Cole’s credit, Saturday’s home run had an xBA of .370, but that doesn’t do much to alleviate the broader issue. The good news is that Cole still owns an excellent 25.5% K-BB% so far this season, but he’ll have to get his home run rate under control to come close to last season’s performance.--Sam Chinitz
