Luis Garcia To Start On Wednesday
4 years agoHouston Astros pitcher Luis Garcia will make his first career MLB start against the A’s on Wednesday with starting pitcher Lance McCullers Jr. (neck) landing on the injured list. Garcia had never pitched above High-A ball before making his MLB debut in relief earlier this season, but he posted an impressive 2.50 ERA with a 12.5 K/9 over three minor league seasons. Control has been an issue for Garcia (4.2 BB/9 in the minor leagues), and that could be a problem against an A’s team that’s chased pitches outside of the strike zone at a 26.8% rate so far this season (fourth-best mark in MLB). It’s not clear how stretched out Garcia will be either, so fantasy players should not rely on him on Wednesday. Still, Garcia should stay on the radar of fantasy players going forward.
