BALLER MOVE: Target Around ~175 Overall
CURRENT ADP: 200+ (undrafted)
ANALYSIS: Minnesota Vikings tight end Irv Smith Jr. out of Alabama finished his rookie season in 2019 with 36 catches for 311 yards and two touchdowns. While those numbers aren't eye-popping, the 21-year-old has been highly touted and is expected to see some progression in his second year.
Kyle Rudolph and Smith should both be considered starters going into the 2020 season, in the opinion of NFL.com's Gregg Rosenthal. Rosenthal considers them both as starters over No. 3 receiver Bisi Johnson because each tight end played more than 600 offensive snaps in 2019.
Smith may become more involved, primarily on the receiving end, especially after the team dealt wide receiver Stefon Diggs to the Buffalo Bills. He won't turn 22 until August and is a breakout candidate despite fighting for targets with Rudolph. Even though Minnesota is a run-first squad, someone will have to make up for the absence of Stefon Diggs in the passing game. Draft Smith as an upside TE2.
