4 years agoOn Wednesday, New York Mets infielder Andres Gimenez started in his sixth straight game, with five of those over a healthy Amed Rosario at shortstop. Gimenez went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in the Mets' 7-6 win over the Orioles. At this point it appears the defensively superior Gimenez has taken over the starting shortstop role from Rosario. When Rosario did start on Tuesday, Gimenez remained in the lineup and got the start at second base. On the season, Gimenez is hitting .292 with two home runs and nine RBI. After a bit of a hitting slump, Gimenez has recovered nicely thanks to a hot bat and the Mets' intention to give him regular playing time, despite a number of infield options on their roster. Managers in deeper leagues should continue to roll with Gimenez who has upside in the stolen base, average and runs scored departments.--Nick Ritrivi - RotoBaller
