Javier Baez Receives Day Off Friday
4 years agoChicago Cubs shortstop Javier Baez is out of the starting nine for Friday’s contest against the Brewers, receiving a day off amidst a nine-game skid that has seen him hit just .182. Nico Hoerner will hold down the shortstop spot with David Bote entering the lineup. Baez’s 60 strikeouts this season lead the National League, as his offensive production has completely fallen off from where it sat the past two years. Having delivered just a 56 OPS+ through his first 44 games, Baez is a fantasy asset on name value only over the final two-plus weeks. His next chance to get back in the lineup comes Saturday versus Milwaukee southpaw Brett Anderson.
