Gary Sanchez Stays Hot With Third Homer In Four Games
4 years agoNew York Yankees catcher Gary Sanchez went 2-for-5 with his 10th home run of the season on Friday. Home runs haven’t been a problem for Sanchez this season, but he left Friday’s game with an ugly .154 batting average and has struggled at the plate all season. Sanchez has been heating up lately though with an OPS above 1.000 for his last seven games, and his swinging-strike and contact rates are back around (a still not great but better) 13% and 30%, respectively, for his last 15 games. Sanchez is still one of the best offensive catchers in baseball with a .815 OPS over the last three seasons (even with an injury-marred 2018), and he’s worth starting in nearly all fantasy lineups down the stretch this season unless you’re desperate for batting average.
