J.A. Happ Dominates On Saturday
4 years agoNew York Yankees starting pitcher J.A. Happ shut the Red Sox out over eight innings with nine strikeouts and no walks on Saturday. Happ now has 25 strikeouts over his last 19.1 innings while allowing three runs during that span, but it’s come without a consistent adjustment in his pitch mix or a consistent variation in his pitch-by-pitch performance. Happ’s fastball stole the show on Saturday with 12 swinging-strikes for a 21% swinging-strike rate, but that rate sat at under 8% in each of his last two games. It’s unlikely that Happ stays so hot going forward as a result, and fantasy managers shouldn’t read too much into three impressive performances.
