Corbin Burnes Sustains Oblique Tear During Thursday’s Start
4 years agoMilwaukee Brewers right-handed pitcher Corbin Burnes (oblique) attempted to pitch through injury Thursday versus St. Louis, but it may have been his final appearance of the year. Burnes sustained a slight tear in his oblique, which will rule him out for the Wild Card series should Milwaukee advance, in addition to manager Craig Counsell not sounding optimistic about Burnes’ status for the NLDS. It was a breakout 2020 for Burnes, who posted a 2.11 ERA in 12 appearances (nine starts), leading the National League with 0.3 HR/9, entering play Thursday as the league leader in ERA. He’ll garner considerable attention in season-long fantasy formats next season, but he’s likely done for the rest of this year, leaving a chasm at the front of the Milwaukee rotation.
