Jacob deGrom Allows Three Earned Runs In Final Start

4 years agoNew York Mets starting pitcher Jacob deGrom allowed three earned runs, five hits, and two walks over five innings pitched in the Mets' 4-3 loss to the Nationals in the first game of a doubleheader on Saturday. deGrom struck out 10 in the outing and should finish the season as the National League strikeout leader with 104 strikeouts. That said, it is doubtful deGrom will win his third consecutive National League Cy Young award. He finishes the season with a 4-2 record, a 2.38 ERA, a 0.956 WHIP, and a 104:18 K:BB in 68 innings pitched. It was another incredibly impressive season for deGrom but he will most likely finish behind Cincinnati Reds starting pitcher Trevor Bauer in the N.L. Cy Young award voting. Heading into 2021, deGrom remains a lockdown fantasy ace and should be one of the first starting pitchers off of draft boards next season.--Nick Ritrivi - RotoBaller
