Mike Clevinger Throws Tuesday, Unlikely To Start Game 1
4 years agoSan Diego Padres right-handed pitcher Mike Clevinger played what was initially described as “aggressive catch” on Tuesday in an attempt to ramp up to pitch during the wild-card series versus St. Louis. But the nature of what he did at Petco Park makes it highly unlikely that he would return to the mound to start Wednesday, with the Padres still yet to name a starter for Game 1. In a best-case scenario, Clevinger, who is dealing with biceps tightness in his pitching arm, could start either Game 2 or 3, although how deep he could go in either contest remains unknown. Check back for the latest updates on his status when they become available.
