Joshua Kelley Should See Expanded Role In Week 5
4 years agoLos Angeles Chargers rookie running back Joshua Kelley is lined up to see an increase in his workload with Austin Ekeler (hamstring) sidelined in a Week 5 battle against the New Orleans Saints. Kelley started the year strong and split the ball pretty evenly with Ekeler in Week 1 and Week 2, but has seen a decrease in usage over the past two games. Some of this can be attributed to having a fumble the last the two games. The Saints Defense has been very good against the run in 2020 and have only more than 100 yards on the ground once this season. The good news for Kelley managers is that the Saints have allowed a rushing touchdown in three straight games. The bad news is that Justin Jackson should cut into the workload and could see goal line carries in the Chargers are concerned about the recent fumbling issues by Kelley recently. Kelley should be rostered in all formats and considered a RB2 until Ekeler returns. Kelley has RB2 potential against the Saints, but with the Saints tough defense against the run, Kelley should be best suited as a flex option with upside.
