Royce Freeman Should Benefit From Melvin Gordon III’s Absence
4 years agoDenver Broncos running back Royce Freeman has reprised a minor role in the team’s offense this season despite having combined for over 1,000 yards rushing over the past two years. Melvin Gordon III (illness) has been ruled out for Sunday’s game against New England, and while Phillip Lindsay is expected to the Broncos’ bell cow out of the backfield, Freeman could vulture some goalline rushes. Yet to carry the ball more than three times in a contest this season, Freeman holds little fantasy appeal Sunday, but an extended absence by Gordon (who was also arrested on DUI charges earlier in the week) could pave the way to fantasy relevance for Freeman down the line in 2020.
