BALLER MOVE: Target Around 130 Overall
CURRENT ADP: 155
ANALYSIS: This pick is all about projection and upside. Porter Jr. averaged 23.2 minutes per game last year, mostly off the bench. He averaged 10 points, 3.2 rebounds, 2.2 assists, and 0.9 steals while shooting 50.6 percent inside the arc. He needs to improve on a 33.5 percent mark from three, but Porter has so much upside. In February, for instance, he averaged 13.5 points per game in 11 appearances, shooting 37.8 percent from three on 4.1 attempts per game.
His hot streak at the end of the year showed that he can be a very good contributor. And this year, Porter should see more minutes, including potentially starting at the three over rookie Isaac Okoro. Porter can also play the two, and I expect to see plenty of Sexton/Porter Jr. backcourts when Darius Garland is on the bench.
The caveat with Porter: he was arrested last month and charged with improper handling of a firearm. We don't know if that might impact his availability this year. Assuming he's on the field from day one or doesn't miss (much) time due to off-court issues, all of the above should be reason enough to drafting Porter earlier than his ADP suggests.
