Zach Pascal (WR, IND) - Week 16 Waiver Wire Pickups

BALLER MOVE: Add in 14+ Team Leagues

ROSTERED: 5% of Leagues

ANALYSIS: Zach Pascal has played an average of 75 percent of all offensive snaps by the Colts this season. That might not scream greatness to you, but the truth is that only 45 WRs have been able to keep up such a percentage while playing 10+ games to this point in the season. The problem for Pascal, though, is that while he has been on the field a lot, he hasn't either been used that much (61 targets; fifth-lowest among those 45 players) and he hasn't produced a lot (0.16 PPR/Snap; 7th-lowest in the same group).

The Colts wide receiver corps have been so bad, though, that Pascal is second only to T.Y. Hilton in fantasy leagues this season. The veteran Hilton has stepped up his game a bit during the past few weeks, but it was Pascal who thrived yesterday with his 5-of-6 catches for 79 yards and 2 touchdowns. Pascal finished the week as the WR4 overall (pending MNF) thanks to his great 24.9 PPR-point tally, by far his best of the year.

Although this performance could very well be an outlier (and most probably is the best one Pascall will have in 2020), there is not much time to waste when it comes to WW-targeting. Nothing has changed a lot for Pascal. He came back to his average of five targets per game yesterday after averaging 2.5 in the prior four games, which we hope stays there for at least next week. And obviously, he scored as many touchdowns against Houston as he had done from W1 to W14.

While not the best of matchups, the game against the Steelers shouldn't be incredibly hard for the Colts' WRs. Pittsburgh ranks 16th in preventing points from fantasy wide receivers, so Pascal will have another chance at scoring at least 8+ PPR points (his season average). The WR2 ceiling is there, but you should consider Pascal a WR3/FLEX option at most entering W16. More of a play for deeper-format GMs than anything else.
